Emma Doolin
Clinical Midwife Sonographer/Registered Midwife
I trained as a Midwife in the Queens Medical Centre, University Hospital, Nottingham and worked on delivery suite, ante/postnatal wards and SCBU for a number of years in Leicester Royal Infirmary and Northampton General Hospital, before becoming a Community Midwife in Northamptonshire, UK, specialising in water birth and home confinement.
On moving to Ireland, I worked as a Midwife at Coombe Women & Infant’s University Hospital before moving to specialise in Ultrasound in the year 2000 within the hospital. This busy department gave me many opportunities to study ultrasound both practically and theoretically, gaining much experience and qualifications in all aspects of Obstetric and Gynaecological Ultrasound.
My work for the Research Consortium Perinatal Ireland during this time also offered many experiences to practice advanced ultrasound techniques, particularly regarding multiple pregnancy, IUGR and advanced Doppler techniques.
Working for BabyScan in addition has enhanced my clinical practice with opportunities in 3/4D and IVF/Infertility ultrasound, in which I have particular interest.
Paula Tunney
Sonographer
I trained as a Radiographer in the Central Middlesex Hospital in London and returned to work in St. Vincent’s Hospital, Elm Park for a number of years before choosing to specialise In Ultrasound. I left st. Vincent’s to pursue private practice specialising specifically in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. I had one of the first 3D ultrasound machines in the country and went on to start BabyScan in 2006 with my brother and sister-in-law when it became obvious that there was a very large demand for 3D imaging. BabyScan went from strength to strength and now has 5 clinics across the country including one in Derry in Northern Ireland. I am delighted that BabyScan is now part of the ReproMed group and will be known as ReproScan from now on.
