Sub-fertile/Infertile Couples
It can be dificult to know when to visit a specialist to seek infertility treatment, as this can often depend on the individual but one of the most important factors in determining when is right to get support, is age.
Infertility is defined as not being able to get pregnant despite having regular, unprotected sexual intercourse for at least a year. Most couples (approximately 85%) will achieve pregnancy within one year of trying. This diagnosis is therefore shared by 15% ( 1 in 6) of couples attempting to conceive. We generally recommend seeking the help of a Fertility Specialist if conception has not occurred within 12 months.
Infertility causes can affect one or both partners. In general:
- In about one-third of cases, there is an issue with the male.
- In about one-third of cases, there is an issue with the female.
- In the remaining cases, there are issues with both the male and female, or no cause can be identified (unexplained infertility).

Hear From Our Customers
We had our 3D scan here and got some lovely pics of our baby boy! The Sonographer was so lovely and really made the whole appointment so special! It was a lovely calm experience and I would definitely 100% recommend BabyScan Swords.
We went for our 3D/4D scan in Derry and it was amazing. This is my fourth pregnancy and first time to have a scan like this. My 3 kids and hubby all were in awe.The first time we went baby was hiding so we had to go the following week but it was so worth it. The staff are friendly and welcoming and so patient, taking lots of time for you to enjoy watching your little miracle on the big flat screen. We got lots of photos and the DVD recording of the whole scan. I couldn't recommend this wonderful experience enough. Thanks from me and mine
Myself and my partner attended Rathgar last week to have a gender scan with Paula and I couldn't have been happier... Amazing experience, amazing images and a comfortable professional environment... I would highly recommend you guys...priceless.
