3D / 4D Baby Scan in Ireland

A 3D/4D Baby Scan is carried out between 24 and 33 weeks of pregnancy, with the optimal time between 25 and 29 weeks. For multiple pregnancies, it is best performed between 22 and 24 weeks. This scan is suitable for those who would like an extra look at their baby in addition to their routine hospital scans. It is performed using a combination of 2D and 3D/4D ultrasound.

While 3D/4D ultrasound can provide detailed, real-time images of your baby, it is important to note that image quality can be affected by several factors, including fetal position, amniotic fluid levels, and maternal BMI.

When to Get a 3D/4D Baby Scan

We recommend scheduling your 3D/4D Baby Scan between 24 and 33 weeks of gestation, when your baby’s facial features are more developed and amniotic fluid levels typically support clearer imaging. After 33 weeks, imaging quality may decrease significantly due to reduced space and fluid, making it more difficult to obtain optimal views.

What Can I Expect on the Day?

When you arrive at ReproScan, you’ll be greeted by our friendly reception team. You’ll complete a short form with basic information, such as your name, date of birth, and contact details.

Once ready, your sonographer will invite you into the scan room. The scan session lasts approximately 15–20 minutes, during which you’ll see and hear your baby’s heartbeat on our large LED screen. Your sonographer will guide you through the experience, highlighting key features and movements.
